Wardrobe Colors and How They Affect Your Mood
Scientists recognize that colors bring about emotional reactions in individuals. The colors you wear can reflect your emotional state and affect your mood as well as the moods of others. The following is a list of basic wardrobe colors and their affects on mood.
Blue is considered to produce feelings of serenity, calm, and relaxation. Wear blue when you simply feel like being relaxed or to produce a calming effect around others.
Green is considered to be one of the most healing among all the colors and is considered the most calming. Green is a nature color that represents Spring and new growth. Wear green whenever you are embarking on something new or wish to turn over a new leaf.
Orange is a very high energy color. Wear orange when you feel like being creative or playful or as a pick me up.
Pink conveys compassion and an open heart. Wear pink when you want to appear approachable and capable of loving others. Pink is often viewed as a romantic color.
Purple (especially dark purple) is a regal color that makes a statement. Purple gives an impression of luxury, wealth, and sophistication. Wear purple when you want to appear unique or special or to stand out in crowd. Purple can also be viewed as a romantic color.
Red is a very powerful color. Wear red whenever you feel a need to portray confidence or would like to boost your self esteem. Caution: Wearing too much red can make a person intimidating to others who may lack self confidence in themselves.
White represents cleansing and new beginnings. Wear white when you want to appear fresh and have a bright outlook.
Yellow is a cheerful color that promotes feelings of happiness, warmth, and optimism due to its association with the sun. Wear yellow or shades of gold whenever your spirits need uplifting or when you want to make an affirmation statement.
Brown is an earth color and is warm and inviting. Wear brown to evoke feelings of genuineness and dependability. In decorating, dark browns promote a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Black and gray are fashion basics. Most people have that basic black suit or black dress that are a must wear for a number of different social settings. Wearing black will allow you to keep a low-profile in social settings if that is your intention. Black can also be a seductive color. Caution: Wearing too much black can evoke feelings of sadness and can worsen depression.
