Default Holistic Pet Grooming

Holistic pet grooming benefits both you and your pet.

1. Start with a pure, organic shampoo that has been enriched with herbs, vegetable proteins and pure essential oils and a bristle brush.

2. While shampooing, massage their coat with your finger tips to help them relax, and be sure to use warm water.

3. When you are finished, use apple cider vinegar to give your pet's coat a final rinse to help balance the pH of your pet's skin. (The rinse should contain 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to one pint of warm water).

4. In the event your pet has skin problems, you can follow the apple cider rinse with an herbal tea designed to help clear up the problem.

5. Once your pet's coat is dry, be sure to use the natural bristle brush to groom your pet daily.

Do you have any other tips? If so, please share.

I've read that giving dogs vitamin and fatty acid-rich supplements helps to control shedding, gives them a shiny coat, and prevents them from getting itchy, dry skin. There are several great supplements available from pet shops and online pet stores. Also, you may need more than one kind of brush. Options include mat breakers, shedding blades, and slicker brushes, depending on your dog's breed. Grooming gloves can help you remove hair as you pet your dog as well.
