Default Benefits of Aloe Vera

1. The gel of aloe vera leaf is good for treating skin rashes, insect bites, herpes simplex, burns, acne, bedsores, ringworm and painful shingles. It is also good for the treatment of psoriasis, eczema, and other skin problems.

2. Aloe vera is good for healing wounds and prevents infection. It has been used in treatments for eye inflammations, ulcers, skin cancer, gall bladder problems, abscesses, and hemorrhoids.

3. It increases the strength of collagen which is required in building of damaged tissues.

4. It is also helpful in the treatment of acid burns, radiation burns, and frostbite. If one is affected by frostbite or sunburn, then one or two cups of fresh aloe juice can be added to lukewarm water. After taking a bath, apply aloe vera gel to the affected areas.

5. When consumed in the form of a drink, aloe vera is good for smooth bowel function and maintaining a healthy immune system.

6. Some people believe that aloe vera brings luck to the home. It is handy to keep around in case of accidental burns while cooking as well. Aloe vera can be used by humans and animals.

I love aloe vera plants, but I have a hard time keeping them alive.LOL I either overwater them or underwater them. Does anyone have any tips on how to grow and maintain a healthy aloe vera plant?

Breaking off a fresh piece of aloe plant while the gel is still thick and applying it directly to the skin is the best remedy for burns IMO. I've done that for years.

My daughter had excema when she was younger- she seems to have outgrown it (knock on wood)- I never knew that aloe vera helped this- We tried a lot of products.
I did know that it helps with sunburn. It is what we use for sunburn.
I also never knew it was good for acne. I really can't believe all of the problems you can use it on.

I did not know that aloe vera was good to treat sunburns. I see aloe as an ingredient in many lotions, so I knew it was good for our skin, but I've never tried using it for sunburns. I will need to keep it in mind. Thanks for the tips!
