Default Herbs

I have heard a lot about how natural herbs can help our bodies to heal itself. I was just wondering if anyone has tried herbal remedies and how they have helped. I have also heard about herbal teas and that they can remedy the body. Has anyone had experience with these?

Teas with Chamomile are very relaxing. I have tried Sweet Dreams tea by Bigelow, it contains chamomile and it does help to sleep better.

Thanks Lissy. I'll have to give that a try.

Bigelow also has Mint Tea and Raspberry Tea. the packaging does not say whether they are intended to treat anything, but they are yummy. My husband, who is not a tea drinker, loves Raspberry.

My five year old loves anything raspberry flavored. I bet he would love that! I have tried blackberry tea and love that. I have a hard time finding it in the stores here though.

I have not tried blackberry tea and I don't think I saw it in stores... I'll need to take a closer look. There are all kinds of herbal teas at our local Walmart, they might have blackberry as well.

Default Basswood blossom tea to treat colds

Has anyone heard of or tried basswood blossom tea? It is not sold in stores (unfortunately), so you'd have to pick basswood blossoms yourself (by the way, they bloom now - end of June, beginning of July!), dry them, and then make tea. It works great to treat colds. A cup before bedtime will make you sweat terrible - and the infection comes out with the sweat.

Here are some benefits of raspberry tea, course, it has to be made from red raspberry leaves and not just a *flavoring*

many people i know who were trying to get pregnant swore by it

Red Raspberry Leaf (Rubus idaeus) tones the uterus, improves contractions and decreases constipation. It also contains many vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C and calcium. The alkaloid fragrine is thought to help tone the uterus.

To make raspberry leaf tea, pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1 or 2 teaspoons of dried leaf, steep for 10 minutes, and then sweeten to taste. Unlike many medicinal herbs, raspberry leaf actually has a pleasant taste! During pregnancy, drink 2 to 3 cups daily.

I have tried raspberry tea that was made from not just leaves but also berries. It was delicious! You can use fresh or dried berries, and ever raspberry preserves, preferably homemade.
